Magnolia in May

There is something special about the Royal Star Magnolia that has always gotten my attention.  It must be a combination of things that makes it one of my favorite blooms.

It has a “soft” white with hints of subtle color undertones.  It moves so gently in the onshore breezes that come in from Lake Michigan, just a slight flutter in the petals.  It has a smooth delicate look and texture.  It has a simple plain appearance yet with a recognizable and understated air of sophistication.

It is regal.

It is elegant.

Enjoy a few of the photos taken this week of the appropriately named
Royal Star Magnolia here in the gardens this month of May.
